Its  Incline Railway scales steep Lookout Mountain before reaching Ruby Falls waterfall and Rock City, featuring sweeping views, sandstone formations and gardens. Point Park, atop Lookout, marks the site of a Civil War battle now honored at the Battles for Chattanooga Museum.

In 1899, Coca-Cola owner Asa Candler sold the bottling rights to Chattanooga lawyers Benjamin F. Thomas and Joseph B. Whitehead for $1. Thomas and Whitehead then opened the first Coca-Cola bottling company at 17 Market Street, where Patten Parkway now stands.
